Description

ANDRES first restored the interior of the cathedral, which included expanding the chancel to create a space for a large shrine, renovating the worship area, and installing a new wood floor and limestone steps to hold the new additions. Once the project was complete, the roof was rebuilt to match the original. ANDRES was also tasked with adding a 20-story bell tower to the historic cathedral while maintaining the historic appearance of the older structure. The problem-solving opportunities of adding the new tower and its 49 pure bronze bells (the largest of which weighed in at 7,500 pounds) posed significant challenges.
